After almost a week of plateauing, I have finally cracked 110kg yesterday morning.
I am currently researching into why our bodies plateau when we change our diets or life style. So far the only explanation that makes sense to me is body weight set points.
As with any weight loss, the body will try to maintain its old weight, so as a last resort the body will slow down its metabolism rate to regain the weight lost.
So far the research that I have gathered is that if we want to start the journey of weight loss, then you need to give the body the chance to adapt to the new range before continuing. That is why our bodies plateau and that some people give up at this point and then reverting back.
By actually incorporating cheat days as I had started my journey, such as from Friday evenings to Sunday evenings, I just eat what ever but still try to maintain portion size and timing, I have managed to keep maintaining my life style changes.
So far my lifestyle changes mainly revolves around metabolic flexibility, which incorporates the 14 hour fast, exercising twice a day and eating between set hours with portion control and conscious eating.
Also replacing what I normally have for dinner as either rice, bread, pasta or potatoes and replaced it with baby spinach, kale and cherry tomatoes .
This plateau varies from person to person, so my only advice would be to keep continuing with the new lifestyle habit and don’t give up!
